2025 MSV Miata Trophy
Rounds 11 & 12 – Cadwell Park
As we know, Cadwell Park is a terrific rollercoaster of a circuit and leaves very little room for error.
Qualifying was tight. I ended up 8th, but my lap was compromised, and with the times so close I was only three-tenths off second place — which I think was within reach.
Race one however was a cracker. I got a fantastic start and jumped straight to 5th, then took advantage of a reshuffle ahead to grab 4th. From there I stayed right on the back of 2nd and 3rd all the way. On the final lap I had a great run through the Gooseneck and saw a chance into Mansfield. Third initially defended, then went back to the racing line, opening the door slightly, so I went for it. Unfortunately, I wasn’t fully alongside, he turned in, and despite applying more brake pressure and trying to bail out, we made contact. I carried on to finish 4th on the road and kept the result but was handed a grid penalty for race two, dropping me from 3rd to 8th.
Race two brought another strong start, and I found myself in the lead group again. I didn’t quite have the pace to make a real impression, but I could hold on and wait for opportunities. It was close and hard-fought throughout, and I came away with 6th place.
Overall, 4th and 6th from 8th on the grid both times was a solid return, and it was fantastic to be back mixing it in the super-close front pack once more. The grid penalty did reduce my chances in race two, which was a shame, but I still had a lot of fun.
Thanks as always for all the support — I really appreciate it. There’s now a long break before the final round at Brands Hatch in the middle of November. Hopefully we can make more progress there!
