2025 MSV Miata Trophy

Rounds 5 & 6 – Brands Hatch GP

After the concerns about pace at Silverstone, we decided to build and fit a new engine for this round. It felt good running in, and I also managed to get some testing done on the GP circuit ahead of the meeting. Things were looking positive.

Then came qualifying. At the final corner of lap one… bang — the engine let go. Just like that.

Fortunately, Mum was able to bring the old engine up from home, as it was still sitting in the trailer. (Thank you Mum!) Terry and the guys then set about the unenviable job of changing it in the paddock — definitely not a quick or easy task. Somehow they managed to get it done by mid afternoon and I made it to the assembly area for race two.

Only for the race to be cancelled. A big crash in the GT Cup had damaged a barrier, and we were all sent home.

Not exactly the weekend we had planned!
