2024 MSV Miata Trophy

Rounds 9 & 10 – Snetterton 300

We began the second half of the season at Snetterton, excited to get cracking. Last year was soaking wet, so we didn’t know what the dry pace would be, but thankfully I felt quick in Friday testing.

I was pleased with my qualifying lap and knew when I set it that I wouldn’t go quicker. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite quick enough though, just 0.2 seconds off Will Morris. I thought I could still challenge in SuperPole, but tightened up a bit and my time was slower. It was still good enough for second and a front row start once again.

A good start in race one looked even better when Will missed a gear and I had a clean run into turn 1 as he dropped to fourth. I lead the first 15 minutes, but ultimately didn’t have the speed to keep ahead as he came back through. I drove better when I was chasing, and feel I should have done better in the early part of the race to secure the win. Second place was a good result though in the championship and it was great to have Alex on the podium in third place.

A quick turn around for race two meant we were back on the grid in no time. I again got into the lead and this time gave Will more of a fight, but in the end he drove well and pulled off a good move to take the win. Declan Lee is my main competitor in the overall championship and he didn’t finish, so another second place (with Alex third) was a good result, even though we always want to win of course!

Cadwell Park is the next venue, which I’m looking forward to as we’ve not visited that super circuit since 2020.
