2026 MSV Miata Trophy
Rounds 9 & 10 – Donington Park National
The Donington Park round came round pretty quickly and it was a race against time for us to get the car ready, after the damage sustained at Anglesey. Thankfully, thanks to hard work from Terry and Dad, the car worked well in morning practice. All of the repairs were faultless and not only that, but we were pretty fast too. The track was varying levels of wet all day and I surprised myself to qualify fourth.
I held fourth for the early stages of race one, but found the handling difficult and the car tricky to drive. It regularly tried to throw me off, and succeeded one lap as I hit a river at the wrong angle going down the Craner Curves! Without that moment I could’ve scored a podium finish after post race penalties, but as it was, fourth place was a good result.
With the reverse grid race two, I started 12th. We had changed some settings on the car which helped as I worked my way through the spray and chaos to sixth at the flag. It was an exciting race and I was just off the back of the front pack by the end, setting a very fast time at the death.
Thanks to Dad, Terry and Nick for all their hard work and support; I’m looking forward to Oulton Park next time out, as the car is working well and it’s a fabulous circuit to drive.
